The Collaboration to AdoptUSKids is a project of The Children’s Bureau, part of the Federal Department of
Health and Human Services. In October 2002, The Children’s Bureau contracted with The Adoption Exchange
Association and its partners (The Collaboration to AdoptUSKids) to devise and implement a national adoptive
family recruitment and retention strategy, operate the AdoptUSKids.org website, encourage and enhance adoptive
family support organizations and conduct a variety of adoption research projects.

NACAC's parent group database contains almost 900 adoption-related support groups from across the
United States and Canada. You can search the database by state or province, or by the type of group or the
group's activity. The search term field allows you to enter in any information you like: contact name, group name, city,
activity, etc. Please note that the parent groups listed do not necessarily reflect NACAC's positions or policies.

adoptive families and families who are considering adoption. We are a non profit, non-sectarian, multi-cultural
organization, founded in the early 1970s as International Families by Adoption.

Adoption Exchange Association (AEA) is the principal contractor for The Collaboration to AdoptUSKids.  
AEA administers and supervises the subcontractors, listed below, and their projects. The AEA staff will design a
national adoptive family recruitment campaign and work to encourage and build the programs of parent support groups
throughout the country.

Center for Adoptive Families (CAF) - www.centerforadoptivefamilies.org
CAF is the first comprehensive pre- and post-adoption counseling and education center in the Baltimore and
Washington area.  Since 1993, CAF has been supporting adoptive parents, birth parents, and adoptees, as well as
reaching out to schools, medical providers, and the general community.  Our primary objective is "Keeping Families
Strong."  Our counseling and educational services include: Individual and family counseling; Parent and children’s
groups; School programs for educators; Seminars for adopting and adoptive families; Birthparent counseling;  
Specialized seminars on international adoption issues; Professional development; Consultation (including e-mail and
telephone); and Monthly E-newsletter.

C.A.S.E. was created in May 1998 to provide post-adoption counseling and educational services to families,
educators, child welfare staff, and mental health providers in Maryland, Northern Virginia, and Washington, D.C.  In

Washington DC Chapter of Families for Russian and Ukrainian Adoption (FRUA)

We are one of many chapters of National FRUA. Our chapter is unique in the fact that we cover the states of
Maryland and the northern section of Virginia, plus the District of Columbia. We are the largest chapter in FRUA
with over 300 members.  We provide support to families who have adopted or who are in the process of adopting from
Russia and the former Soviet block countries. We do this by providing our members with a support network that helps
with parenting and a wide range of adoption issues. We coordinate regular events offering outstanding adoption
information.
